I Did B2B Sales and it Was Hell on Earth for Me
Some jobs just aren’t meant for everyone.
Without a doubt, this has never been more true for me than when I did B2B sales.
Let me preface this whole thing by saying that I have never relished rejection. Putting myself out there has always been difficult and I struggle with a little bit of social anxiety at times.
I’d also like to say that I like online sales. I freelance and sell my own digital products on more than one platform.
But it’s cold-call selling that I don’t like.
Ultimately, this job just wasn’t for me. It doesn’t match my personality profile. But you know what, for some people, this is an incredible job. Some people love this kind of work. I applaud those people. I truly do!
But again, not my cup of tea. Now, let’s get to the story.
I had just gotten married and had left my lowing paying job in education for a much higher paying job in sales working for a big office supply company at their corporate office selling business account programs. Initially, I was completely excited about this. I had just landed a well-paying sales job with no previous experience in the field. I was ready to make some serious money.
