I’m the Guest Star of Crazy Christmas

I approach the holidays like a comedy

It’s New Year’s Eve. Another holiday is upon us and I haven’t decompressed from Christmas yet. The chaos of my Christmas lingers like the weight I put on from gorging myself on holiday sweets.

There are three places to go starting on Christmas Eve and ending Christmas night. It’s a day and a half whirlwind of winter wackiness at my in-laws, my stepmother’s, and my cousin’s for my mom’s side of the family.

Being the child of divorced parents, this is nothing new. I’m a pro at house-hopping for the holidays. When I’m done gulping down some ham and unwrapping a gift, it’s time to pack it up and move on down the road like a rockstar.

As a child, it was all part of the fun. I didn’t have to worry about buying gifts then. As an adult, I must remember a gazillion things ranging from bringing the cranberry sauce to the LL Bean scarf for Aunt Sue.

My stress level hits an all-time high as soon as I hear the first notes of “White Christmas” in October.

Something had to give. I wanted to wear my nice down coat in December instead of a straight jacket.

I’d rather laugh than cry
