The Creativity and Dedication of a Loving Grandma

I left my son and daughter at my mom’s house for an afternoon. It wasn’t easy to leave them at my childhood home, which has brought me so many nightmares from my childhood trauma. I took a leap of faith and trusted in this moment. I had a good feeling that happiness would come out of this choice, despite my worries.

After my husband and I drove away, a big winter squall entered the area. It was a giant whiteout, with huge snowflakes falling all around us. We could barely see the road at times due to the vast strength of this quick-lived snowstorm.

When I returned to my mom’s later on to pick up my children, it was like the yard of her big house on the hill had transformed with all the snow. It was a complete winter wonderland.

As we slowly made our way up the snowy driveway, I noticed my kids sledding down the hill. I had a quick panic moment. I knew I had not packed their snow gear. I was confused as to how my mom had been able to dress them with enough layers to bring them outside to play.

When I got out of the car, my panic all dissolved when I saw the giant smiles and heard the loud belly laughs coming from my children. They were so genuinely content and cheerful with life at that very moment. They had not an ounce of worry or anger in their souls as they were sitting on sleds…
