My Love-Hate Relationship with Co-Sleeping
A real-world take with zero advice-giving or judgment
I have been co-sleeping with my daughter since she was a newborn.
At first, it was all about survival. I just literally couldn’t get her to sleep any other way than being next to me.
Flash forward 3 years later and my beautiful little toddler still sleeps beside me.
I love it. And I hate it.
She’s finally at the point where she can sleep on her own without much fuss. But practicality has us sharing a bed right now because we’re temporarily living elsewhere.
In the spirit of sharing a real-world experience about co-sleeping with zero advice-giving or judgment, this is my take.
Why I Love It
1. It strengthens our bond
This is an obvious one. We sleep together and we wake together. We cuddle in the middle of the night. We share bedtime stories and kisses.
2. If there’s a problem, I’m right there
Nosebleeds, vomit, croup, fever – I’ve experienced it all during the middle of the night. It’s a little unimaginable to consider having to jump up, leave the warmth of my blanket and walk…
