“Cozy Covid?”
How will our children remember The Pandemic?
“Can I take your Covid test” asked my two-year-old in earnest, as he tried to poke a French fry into my left nostril. When I politely refused, he looked at me more emphatically. “I NEED to take your Covid test Ma’am!” he implored. I shrugged and quickly ate the testing kit.
Throughout these last two years there were two thoughts that continued to plague my mind:
1. What if my kids get it?
2. What if I get it and can’t take care of my kids?
So, when my highly sensitive daughter finally caught the dreaded Delta variant, I tried hard to focus on my breathing. Never in a million years could I have guessed that she would describe this time as “cozy Covid.”
Here’s what happened…
After one-and-a-half years, my in-laws came to visit us from India in The Netherlands as embassies had been closed for a large part of the pandemic. When we finally met, we were so excited, we toured a new city every week.
After a trip to Budapest and another trip to Paris, my mother-in-law felt fatigued.
