My Brother Died 10 Years Ago. I Don’t Think He Was Alone When It Happened.

I never shared this suspicion with anyone — not even my own mom. I hope she can forgive me.

When my brother’s lifeless body was found in his Bronx apartment 10 years ago, the only other living being around was his cat, Sylvester, and she wasn’t talking. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary, and according to law enforcement, no foul play was suspected. My brother had, unfortunately, simply died.

Still, despite all evidence to the contrary, I believe that his former girlfriend was not only aware of his death before my family was, but was present when my brother took his final breath.

Before we move forward, let me state that my theory regarding my brother’s death has not been proven and likely never will. The following is my recollection of events in the days before and after his death, sprinkled with questionable actions by his girlfriend to make my points. There’s likely some emotional bias at play as well, but it’s to be expected — I lost my only brother, after all.

I also don’t believe my brother’s girlfriend intentionally killed him. More likely, she and my brother engaged in an activity that led to his heart giving…
