When I was twenty-nine years old, I became Vice President of Marketing for Thomas Nelson. It was a big step in my career. At that time, I thought I had reached the pinnacle of success.

Life Story

But I’m in over my head. Or at least that’s what it feels like. I’m just waiting for others to come to the same conclusion.

I struggle with anxiety and fear all the time. Anxiety occurs during the daytime. Fear is the nighttime version.

This manifested itself in my body in two embarrassing ways: first, I sweated profusely. Second, my hands were always cold — cold as ice.

Before going to an important meeting, I wore two T-shirts. Hopefully, neither of you will sweat. I choose my clothes strategically. Based on the color that sweats the least.

I even went to the bathroom before a meeting and frantically poured hot water over my hands. Then I dried it off, praying it would be warmer. I’m afraid to shake hands with anyone.

Sometimes I realize that the problem isn’t with my body. But in my head I tell myself bad stories; I go like this:
