Does Love Really Happen Only Once?
Just sit with the pain for a while
There are still people who believe that love happens only once. This belief is ingrained in us because society tells us so.
Movies, culture, and the people around us often emphasize the idea of one perfect love story. But in reality, this belief is just programmed in our minds. It only starts to fade when someone comes into your life who can truly touch your heart.
But love is not a one-time event. It’s a feeling, a state of being. The feeling of love is something that arises within you, sparked by someone else, but it ultimately resides inside you.
You can learn to love yourself, even without anyone else. It might sound unreal or impossible, but the truth is that love is present everywhere — in every moment, with everything and everyone.
I remember when I was going through my first breakup. At that time, I also believed that “this is it, love only happens once,” and that belief dragged me into depression. But as I started meditating and reading books, I realized that there are billions of people in this world. There are countless unique, beautiful, funny, intelligent people out there, and I had been thinking that after my breakup, my love life was over. It’s funny now, but that phase of moving on is really painful.
