Lost Light
A poem
Darkness appearing earlier each day
The sun in all its glory fading away
Shadows left haunting where it shone so bright
Missing once was, with all its light
Disappearing warmth departing so fast
Burdened with time passing, we won’t outlast
Air grows colder, the clock ticks on
Moments now heavy with weighted song
Of a world now muted and gray
Clinging to fleeting light with our dismay
In these quiet hours, as darkness creeps in
The ache for what’s lost mournfully deepens
For it’s not the loss of light that remains
It’s the feeling of sorrow that comes with each change
