How Pride Was Made

Indignation of vulnerable pride,
gnawing out of the fog where I now reside.
Failure is not an option anymore.
I will summon great pride forevermore.

Instinct takes over to restore my power.
As though on the precipice of a tall tower,
I calibrate and take the giant leap,
to be certain I will never repeat.

At last, I’m back at the top of my game.
Vowing never again to fall to such shame.
Conquering demons that demean my worth.
Proudly displaying all my strength on this Earth.

Firmly planting my feet back on the ground.
I am now in control of all I surround.
Beaming bright in the light with total control;
sweet serenity resides within my survivor's soul.

For nothing can seem foul to those that win. — William Shakespeare
