Cutting; Scarring

vulnerability ripped open;
sadness seeps in,
seeps out.

burning at the back of my throat —
a lump
of feelings unfelt,
of words not formed;
burning in my eyes —
a sting
of tears unwept,
of mourning untapped —

burning in my soul;
waiting for release.

a call from the past
wound tightly
within —
knotted
tangled,
shrouded in darkness —
hidden from lightness
surrounding,
encompassing,
embracing.

wounds beyond cognition,
perception,
deeper than
awareness;
cut open,
exposed to the air —
a perfect breeze,
cool,
gentle,
patient.

the inexpressible
expressed without words,
expressed
in moments,
movements —

silence.
