Food Review: Count Chocula Mini Treats
A Long Strange Trip to Ocean State Job Lot and a Deadhead Airbnb
When they say you should never go grocery shopping hungry, I think they’re referring to . Rhode Island’s flagship overstock store is filled with foods that would make any self-respecting registered dietitian weep. When I’m hungry, I never escape without spending at least $175.
My wife and I were on our way to an Airbnb for a weekend getaway in Providence. Against our better judgment, we went into the Job Lot before dinner. We told ourselves we’d just be killing time, but I was secretly hoping to find a deeply discounted novelty item that would tide me over until our next meal. At the end of aisle 24, I found a box of Count Chocula Mini Treats — Chocolatey Cereal Bar with Marshmallows. The box was adorned with a haunted house, a few bats, and the buck-toothed creepily smiling vampire himself — Count Chocula. I loved the cereal as a kid. With the logic of the ravenous, I figured I’d like the bars too.
My wife saw me put them in the cart, and gently proposed we wait until we get to our Airbnb. She speculated that there might be some interesting goodies in the pantry. I was unmoved. I needed to try those Count Chocula Mini Treats.
