I’m Your Friend For A Sale
Is it just me?
Hey.
A casual form of greeting, straight from my brain to yours.
You don’t know me at all. But courteous greetings don’t hurt.
Ever had one of those salespeople use your first name despite not knowing you and your entire being going into its safe space? Maybe I’m alone in this, but I don’t know what kind of psychology studies show people are more receptive to others when they use your first name. When someone I don’t know uses my first name, I instantly see red flags and hear alarms.
Isn’t the running joke with couples that if your significant other uses your first name it means they’re angry with you?
But somehow someone trying to sell you something, it’s a given strategy to use your first name like they’re your best friend.
I don’t know when everyone decided to fake friendships, camaraderie or otherwise. Maybe I’m just pessimistic.
Why is the internet filled with people who solved the matrix that is personal finance, yet out of the goodness of their hearts, they want to share that with you?
My point is; that if I was making a consistent flow of money doing nothing, I wouldn’t dilute that well by inviting other people to tap into that. Right? I’m not crazy, you wouldn’t…
