New Day, New Year, New Hope

In the shortest days of the UK winter, nothing raises spirits more than sighting the first snowdrop. Resilience, against the odds, is what it demonstrates best. This little beauty may look fragile. The opposite is true.

This tiny plant grows in clay soil in an area baked dry throughout summer and is regularly walked upon. In January it pushes through frozen ground and a layer of acidic bark to hang its teardrop head to delight us.

Our world needs peace now more than ever before. Resilience to come through dark days and bloom again is never easy. But the humble snowdrop proves that it is possible.

I wish all who read my words a happy, resilient and peaceful 2025.

Thank you for reading.
