Roasted Gram Fritters: Parippu Vada
It’s a perfect evening snack to serves with coffee or tea. People who love Indian food will fall for these fritters if they have a choice to opt for fritters over baking products.
It has different names all over India, Parippu Vada, Chana dal Vada, Lentil Fritters, Parippu Vadai, Masala Vada, Dal Vada.
Essentially all are the same but with a slight variation in the ingredients. In some regions, people do omit the onion, while at some parts, people add various spices.
However, the base ingredient is the same, which is Roasted Gram, also known as Bengal Gram \ Chana dal \ Kadalai Paruppu \ Pottukadalai.
It’s my husband’s favorite again, and he will indulge himself if he has some hot and spicy fritters serves with tea or coffee.
It is not the first time I have tried this recipe, as I had difficulty getting the right consistency and size. Usually, I don't give up on dishes easily if I don't get them right or until I get them right.
It’s a popular street snack in the southern part of India. These crispy and deep-fried Fritters are made by grinding soaked roasted gram coarsely to reach a dough consistency. Onions and Spices add to the dough before making it into a disc/patty shape.
