What Trying to Write Consistently in 2022 Taught Me
And how it will change my approach in 2023
“Write every day!” If you are reading this, you have heard of this advice from all the big-name writers. But is it any good? Is it even practical? If you ask me, I will say it’s not. In fact, I find it pretty counter-productive.
Think for yourself. What is the purpose of writing daily if you burn out in the process and are unable to write for months after?
I think being a writer is not only about being consistent but also about being able to listen to yourself and take a break when you need it. Why so?
It’s because it allows you to refill the creative well by consuming content from other people and absorbing their creative fuel.
However, it can’t be denied that to be a published writer you need to have material to publish. Moreover, the faster you can complete a project and publish it in today’s competitive market the better it is.
This means that you do have to write with some consistency, whether it means daily, weekly or whatever works for you.
I’ll admit it. I’ve struggled to write and publish consistently in recent years — thanks to academic responsibilities.
