The calm before the red
“I know what I feel for her,” Rudra said as he exhaled a puff of smoke.
“Is it just about the feelings, or is there something more?” Anish replied.
“You always overanalyze things. I told you, it’s just about the emotions — nothing else.”
Rudra and Anish were the rare friends who had shared every stage of their lives. They went to the same school, attended the same university, and even got placed in the same company. It’s been more than 20 years since they first met. There was always a sense of competition between them — not in terms of success, but in who was more modest, respectful, and grateful.
Adrija, Rudra’s wife, and Akhila, Anish’s wife, got along so well after their marriages that it almost seemed unrealistic. They say bad times linger, while good times fly by in an instant, but in their case, it was the opposite. People often envied how perfect they were together, which stirred up a lot of negative energy. But it never affected them — things could never go wrong as long as Anish and Rudra were together.
