Want Freedom? Start by Redefining What It Means
When most people say they want freedom, they picture palm trees, passive income, and zero obligations. No boss. No meetings. No stress.
But here’s the problem with that version of freedom: it’s a fantasy.
Worse, it’s a fantasy that keeps you stuck. Because chasing “ultimate freedom” — the kind sold in Instagram ads and crypto DMs — rarely leads to anything real.
Real freedom? It’s something else entirely.
The Freedom Lie
I used to believe freedom meant doing nothing.
Sleep in. Watch Netflix. Ditch the alarm clock. Live on your own schedule. No one to answer to.
But after recovering from a life-changing stroke, I realised how unfree that version of life actually is.
Because when you strip away all responsibility, you also remove meaning.
Sure, I had all the time in the world. But time without purpose is just… emptiness. I wasn’t free. I was bored. Unmotivated. And if I’m honest? A bit lost.
That’s when I realised something important: freedom isn’t about escape. It’s about alignment.
