Giving Myself A Break Is Truly A Gift Of A Lifetime
Something I haven’t done in a long while
In just a couple days, I will be doing something I haven’t done for myself—ever. And it’s the simple notion of taking an extended break with intention.
Ever since I started working right out of university, I truly haven’t stopped. And it has taken me almost ten years to realize how unhealthy this was. My foot just stayed on the gas pedal and never even thought about braking. Every day had me striving for the next thing.
Career advancement.
Make more money.
Live in my dream space.
Taking on bigger projects.
And let’s be honest, it never really has an ending point. Until the moment I lost my job just a few months after moving to New York, was I finally forced to take a moment and come face-to-face with how burnout I was.
It gave me a pivotal span of time to really acknowledge how much damage my body had endured over the last decade—physically, mentally, and emotionally. And above all, gave me a reality check of how I needed to shift my perspective of work, career, and personal goals.
So here we are.
