Did I Just Hit Micro-Virality With One Of My Videos?
Not even sure if this counts to be honest
Something happened to me for the very first time this week. A YouTube short-form video somehow got picked up by the algorithm and drove traffic to my page like never before. Seeing the graph the next morning honestly made me think I was dreaming or had blurry vision.
A quick motion piece that took me no more than 45 minutes to make, somehow generated the most views I’ve ever had across the board. Granted it’s not even in the millions, or even thousands—but just a few hundred for crying out loud. But this was a win for me and I’ll tell you why.
It affirms that you truly never know how the algorithm makes its decisions. Something that I ultimately didn’t think would generate anything, ended up generating the most thus far. And not simply in the aspect of viewership. There has been engagement in the form of likes, comments, and even reposts happening.
A lot of the time it can feel pretty hopeless when you post a piece of content, and you see little to nothing happen at all. As if the platform doesn’t even give you a chance. But this small event gave me a sweet reminder of how much potential there is as long as I stick to my north star: continue to share and experiment with different things.
