Fear’s Worst Nightmare
Love and security combat the very essence of fear
it twists, slithers, whispers,
horrors in your ear,
harbinger of tears,
help me from the spiral of fears,
this wicked thing,
meant to steal, kill, destroy,
the Trojan Horse outside of Troy,
deception, manipulation, exploitation,
all commune to conspire,
help me from becoming tired,
again, this night, it comes to me,
peddling the same insecurities,
that cause sleep to flee,
make it stop, please,
help me from what plagues me,
unsuspecting kindness comes my way,
positioned to be aided from the melee,
truth takes ground like the beaches on D-Day,
it wraps me in protective arms and says, “It’s okay,”
please don’t leave me alone, stay,
“you’ve never been alone, just blinded by fear,”
“you did not see me here,”
“you are loved, you are sheltered, you are dear,”
“you were never meant to be commandeered,”
please don’t wander…
