The Empress
A poem based on the tarot
Oh giver of life, the mother of all,
fruitfulness of the earth, universal lover.
From you comes my creativity
my joy and passion, my own body.
Your darkness though, oh your darkness!
How I learned how to be,
how not to be, from you, my mother.
from your sadness and loss came my
abundance and joy, the lessons you
unwillingly gave, the generosity
of your spirit, to show me true love
by its absence, so that I may learn
and pass the teachings on.
Comfort in body and mind
sought by all, misunderstood by most.
As I grow, I remember I stand
on your broken shoulders.
