How Would You Walk Away?
May Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Sculptures”
I am the motion you regret.
The truth is, nobody wants to be someone anyone walks away from.
If one of us has to leave (if I go), I’ll do it like Mr. Walker: calmly, and with spirit.
There’s a sculpture in Järnvägsparken near Stockholm Central Station called Vem är Mr Walker? by Jan Håfström. It stands 7 meters tall, is made of painted aluminum, and weighs nearly 2,000 kilograms. One side is red, the other blue. Mr. Walker seems to be always in motion, always forward, like he is taking off. He walks lightly, like he’s made of will, not weight.
That’s how I’d walk when I do: moving forward, almost flying, gracefully. The only thing left behind is the beauty of motion, with the shade of my red.
You see, when I leave, I didn’t just leave.
I became the motion you regret.
