Short and Weird Poem
Thou Shalt Not Take My Freedom
Sirs…
Thou shalt not take my freedom
O inhabitants of Downing Street, the White House, the Kremlin
Thou shalt confine me
Thou shalt vaccine me
Thou shalt health-passport me
Thou shalt condition my livelihood to thy whims and fancies
And to those of your multinational friends and acquaintances
But thou shalt not take my freedom
Thou shalt not take my freedom
Thou shalt tell me
By every means
By the television
By the radio
By the Internet
By the newspapers
That my neighbour is my enemy
That my neighbour might kill me
By his very breathing
By her very being
Thou shalt use thy police to tell me that I am alone
And that it is right and proper that I be alone
That I must defend my aloneship by mistrust and denunciation
And hostile glare
