Me and My Daddy Did It!
We’re the 2024 Worm Grunting champions!
Ever since I was a toddler, my dad’s been taking me worm gruntin.’ It sure took me a while to get the hang of it, but now I’m real good. Not as good as my daddy, of course. But I’m getting there.
Anyway, me and my daddy entered the tournament at the Sopchoppy Worm Gruntin’ Festival this year, and we won! We got almost twice as many worms as Timmy and his dad, and they’d been the champions for four years runnin’!
If you ain’t never heard of worm gruntin’, I’m about to tell you what it is. You see, folks need worms for bait. You can do it the hard way and dig ’em up. Or you can do it the easy way, and make them worms come to you!
The first thing you do is pound a wooden stake in the ground. Once you got that done, you take a thick piece of metal and run it along the top of the stake. You gotta do it just right, or it won’t make the type of vibration you need.
When you get the hang of it, all them earthworms come right up outta the ground, you see? And all you gotta do is pick ’em up!
You can get enough worms to go fishing and be done with it. But if you’re smart like my daddy, you can make a whole business out of worm…
