I asked my lover to tell me more about when he was a Navy diver, and what kinds of work he would do underwater. He was describing how he replaced a big 18-foot propeller on a ship one time, an operation that involved a big crane and a partner, when he mentioned using a “come along” to get it into position.
“A what?”
“A come along. Haven’t you ever heard of those? It’s a tool you use — kind of like a ratchet — to move heavy objects.”
I looked it up later, and sure enough, there is a tool called a “come along,” aka a ratchet hoist.
That got me thinking about the many, many tool names that have sexual connotations. I still remember feeling embarrassed in a hardware store as a young woman when I first heard there were male and female fittings. The female ones receive something. The male ones put it in.
You should know that my imagination plays a big part in my sexuality. While I’m having sex, I’m usually running some kind of fantasy…
