I honestly don’t understand why so many people hated the 2016 movie Dirty Grandpa. My only conclusion is they must also hate sex. Because for me, my husband, and our lover Captain —all older adults— the 2016 movie starring Robert DeNiro, Zac Efron, and Aubrey Plaza was funny, sexy, and fun.

We liked the girl bodies. We liked the boy bodies. We liked the wordplay and sexplay. Yet just now when I was searching for some photos to include in this story, I ran across some pretty dour pronouncements like “” and that Dirty Grandpa was the fourth worst movie ever made by Robert DeNiro, and . Plus, it got a pathetic 10% score from critics on .

Wait, what? Why the vitriol?

It’s set during Spring Break in Florida, for one, so there’s a lot of footage of girls in bathing suits on the beach and around a swimming pool. Who doesn’t like looking at beautiful women in bathing suits? Anyone? But also, Zac Efron gets practically naked at one point in the movie, with nothing on but a stuffed animal belt-type thing…
