The beautiful, starry-eyed young woman, born April 14, 1977, in Cleveland, Ohio, disappeared on May 1, 2001, in Washington, D.C.
Chandra had snagged a coveted internship at the in Washington, D.C. It also appeared from many indications that she was possibly having an illicit affair with a powerful 53-year-old Congressman.
Her life seemed to hold infinite promise until she vanished from the Dupont Circle area of Washington, D.C.
A beautiful young woman vanished into thin air
Chandra Levy reportedly disappeared while jogging. Back home in Modesto, California, her parents became concerned when their only daughter didn’t respond to phone calls, voice messages, or emails.
Eventually, they called the Washington, D.C. police to perform a wellness check on their child, who was due to return home in a few weeks. Bob and Susan Levy were devastated. Susan told the media that her daughter’s disappearance was “the worst thing a mother could ever face.”
