Drowning in You
A Song of Longing
Your eyes beckon me
Like a pond filled with lamp oil
Only lit by a sliver of a crescent moon
I know if I walk further
I might be lost in your sea
Your gaze promises me
A land of honey and sun
A dark desert
A smoke-filled fever dream.
I am scared my limbs get tangled
In your lashes like seagrass.
They would be holding me back
When I want to come up for air.
Why am I so thirsty
To taste you where it’s salty
When I know very well
That I cannot swim?
