There are these marvelous little birds who sit in the tall grasses on the mesa plains. You can’t see them at all — so tucked deep into the grass are they. And yet you can hear their beautiful trilling song, seemingly arising from the grass and ground itself.
You make love
to my ears
and some part of the melody
dances its way
down the winding paths
of my heart
until I burst open
in the summer sun
ready for nourishment
ready for love
ready for anything.
