The Tower of Dreams Opens Before Thee
A poem about how science shatters our models of reality
The tower of reality has fallen
into the abyss
of what we don’t know
it’s magic and beauty
mathematics and science
It is everything
and nothing
joining of mortals and gods
severing of disconnected
incongruent laws.
Did you feel it rumble?
Did you see the dust
cover the blue epitaph skies
For ages
before our awakening
before the neocortex took its throne.
We were but shadows
lost in recalcitrant memoirs
puppets of illusions flung
Across the seas of troubled love
and did we stumble together
out of the spinning pub?
I don’t recall.
The end of my nose
and the beginning of infinity
seems arbitrary in these
ill-defined times
no wonder my mind
cannot grasp the fullness of
a firefly dancing night.
So we gnaw upon…
