The Soul’s Light

A Poem

One day I will become white light;
No longer will I see or feel
Hear or remember
I have no eyes, ears or fingers
Yet I ride the wind
Wordless and wingless
I hide next to desperate shadows
I rest on your shoulders
Caress you when you least expect it

I may even whisper to all your darknesses;
Without voice
Without value
Without purpose
Without agenda
No inclinations whatsoever
Yet your darkness will understand me

It knows I am near
Neither holy nor omnipotent
I am both
Its friend and enemy

I can arrive at any time
Beyond the speed of a Hummingbird’s heart
You might see me rising in the east
At play like a checkerboard child
Dancing across your white tiled floor
Racing up and down your bedroom wall
Teasing the night
Giving your thoughts a place to rest
