Sunset Watch

Tonight I watched the clouds as they rambled across the sky
I watched them glide against a canvas speckled with sunlight
I watched them saunter delicately against the setting skyline
And I watched them soak in all the last ounces of sunshine

The clouds moved as if there was no rush and nowhere to be
They moved like they were whispering softly, directly to me
They urged me, lovingly, “it’s okay to move more slowly”
They told me, caringly “go ahead, live more delicately”

And so my breath started to coo with their saunter
And so my mind started to become just a bit fainter
And so my heart started to beat prouder yet gentler
And so my soul started to awaken from its slumber

I did not run from the lazy lull of this moment
Nor did I hide from the craving of doing nothing
I let the traveling breeze blanket me without apology
And I let the setting sun leave a brazen kiss on my cheek

I allowed myself to be embraced by the view
And I let my breath dance with the melting sky
I allowed myself to rest my head in the clouds
And I let my dreams flirt with…
