Light Switch
A poem about depression
In a world where
The sun never fails
To set at dusk
I have always craved
A steadfast,
Unwavering source
Of light
And throughout my life
He was my
Beacon of energy,
My lighthouse of safety
I never collided
With the crossings ahead of me
Because he made sure I always had
The brightest headlights
When I was little
I wasn’t afraid of monsters
Under the bed or
In the closet
Because he was my night light
I guess I never truly
Met darkness back then
Because wherever I went
He lit the way,
My flashlight
And I’m not sure when
Things really changed
All I remember is
The world started
To feel darker
Than it used to
