Bergamot and Salt
A poem
When I dream of summer
I dream of light seeping into long evenings
I dream of the bitter skin of bergamots
And diamonds strewn across the early sea
When I dream of summer
I smell your skin, salty, mineralic and tart
The sheets alight with the perfume of sun
And the eucalyptus trees oozing fragrance
That summer lives under my skin
And every time I grasp for it, it slips away
It cannot be captured and framed
It was that summer where I shed my layers
And allowed the sun to touch what was hidden
Where I brined myself in the sea
And let it wash away what no longer is
