Just poetry, for those who still remember.

Unbecoming

Gustav Klimt’s ‘Danaë’ adapted by Svetlana Petrova for fatcatart.com

I want to push this unbecoming
To the limit —
that it crushes my soul
Where everything breaks

So that I know
What’s my steel and —
What’s my glass
Where it really aches

Just that any glance —
isn’t overwhelming
To freeze and gawk
That my ‘my’ remains mine

So that I stand up —
Exactly when I’m full
For every extra bite I eat
Comes from someone else’s famine

To outrun the monster every day
Knowing what’s real —
And what’s dust
Till I reach and I know I arrived
