Simple Practices to Quiet Your Mind and Find Balance

I know how overwhelming life can get, especially lately, if you watch a lot of news. Sometimes it feels like your mind is constantly racing, and it’s hard to catch a breath. When that happens, it’s important to take a step back and find ways to reconnect with yourself.

If you need some help quieting your mind and finding more balance, here are a few of my favourite practices to help stay grounded.

Laugh a lot. Out loud. Fully belly laughs, whenever possible. Your body moves energy when you do, and you’ll have an immediate mental-emotional release. If you find your amusement in the simplest things, even a small chuckle will lighten the load. Don’t hold it in; let your voice box express freely.

Salt water. There is something magical about salt water and its ability to cleanse and purify the aura—the emotional body benefits greatly from the removal of stagnant or negative energy. Your physical body benefits too, as saltwater bathing is a gentle detox, good for circulation, skin health, and muscle relaxation. Whether it’s a swim in the ocean or an Epsom salt bath, it doesn’t matter. Make sure to rinse any salt residue off so your skin doesn’t dry out.
