My Meditative Activity and Practice is SoulCollage®
And it just so happens to combine art and journaling
I’m not much of a meditator.
Especially if by meditation, you mean sitting still and clearing the mind.
When I try that, my mind goes, Oh yeah? I’ll show you! And goes into hyperthinking overdrive.
But when I’m so engaged in an activity that I lose myself in it, and go into the Zone many of us speak of, I come away feeling refreshed and well-rested. But I wasn’t sitting on a cushion reciting mantras.
I was fully engaged in an activity I love doing.
This is why ’s recent article, Find your meditative activity, so speaks to me! In it, he lists several activities that he and others do or might find meditative from walking to cooking to gardening, Zen, and otherwise.
He also mentioned two that float my boat, and help me connect: Art and Journaling. What he said about journaling rang true for me:
“Sometimes I feel as though it opens a portal between me and my higher self and allows me to access the wisdom I need for the issue I’m facing.”
That’s exactly why I journal. To connect with my soul and its wisdom.
