Real Life of a Stranger

When a fire on my street prevented me from getting home, a kind person invited me into their house for tea. Inside, I saw scribbled writings spanning years. Finding them fascinating, I asked to share these fragments. With permission, here are some of their thoughts on real life.

Nothing

--

Bring nothing

Seek nothing

Take nothing

On exploring the inner, nothing

Bring nothing — humility. Leave all that you are, that you believe, that is on your mind, behind.

Seek nothing — humility. You are not greater than the places your explore. If you come seeking something, you treat it as a barren land with treasure to plunder. It is greater than you. Do not seek riches, for if you do you will only find vanity and self-confirmation.

Take nothing — honesty. If you seek nothing but take something, then you were secretly seeking something. Only by taking nothing can you come again, truly seeking nothing. Also, of all boons to take with you, nothing is perhaps the most valuable. It is the only thing you have a right to take.
