Do We Let Life Pass Us By?

There are so many things I want to do in this life, so much I have yet to experience, but I keep wondering, will I actually do it?

I tell myself I have time, but do I? How much time do I really have?

And even if I live a long life, how long will the things I want to do wait for me?

“The older I get, the more I realize that some experiences can only be had at certain times. You don’t get a second shot at them in the same way.” — Haruki Murakami

So when my youth is gone, will I look back with joy at everything I have experienced, or will I be filled with regret for the things I never dared to do?

If we strip away society’s expectations and our own ego, we realize that nothing is truly required of us — except to live. But how do we actually want to live? And did we consciously choose the life we are living right now, or did we simply fall into it?

So will we let life pass us by, avoiding it because we are scared? Because it doesn’t feel safe or comfortable enough to take the next step, make the next decision?

There are so many things I want to experience before I die. But how will I ever live them if I don’t even try?
