From Dhabas to Darwazas: Train Stories of Northern India
My Train Journey to Delhi & Bihar
I have travelled in India since I was fifteen years old. Now, I covered the north and southwest parts of India within seven years.
I love to write travelogues and stories of people I met while travelling. In this story I would like to picturise my train journey throughout this year and past years. Colleagues and family are always scaring me to travel in local compartments or unreserved berths.
First whistle in Kishanganj
In August 2023, we went to Kishanganj in Bihar on the Vivek Express. I think the train will cover 4200 km between Dibrugarh (Assam) and Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu). Also, it travels through two major religious destinations, namely, Lord Krishna’s Dwarka and Rameswaram, which lies close to Thoothukudi. After this journey I was taught how to stand up without any kind of feelings for two days and how to listen to someone in their bad situation. Bengalis and Assamis started to fight with me in Howrah station. I don’t become more aggressive while I remember for two days; they are our neighbours in berth. We booked train tickets early, but it was cancelled automatically due to heavy storms and soil erosion.
