For some, the life of a writer is like a beautiful fantasy experience. But it is not always as attractive as it seems. That being said, being a writer is so worth it. Some want to be a writer, even though they currently work other jobs. But despite having such a desire, many people have yet to learn how to do it and where to start. Therefore, I thought to give some tips to those who want to become such a writer.

01. Write as part of your daily routine

Usually, we are all busy. Especially with the current economic crisis, we are even more busy. However, hoping and dreaming that you will write when you get time from your busy life is not an easy task. Instead, you should make writing a part of your routine. Let’s start small. There is nothing wrong with setting aside half an hour a day to write. Many people who have lofty dreams of becoming world-famous writers are unable to do so because they have big dreams and don’t think of starting from a small place. So don’t put it off until tomorrow. Start writing today. Set aside a specific time of the day, and at that time, put aside all the phone and other things and start writing.

02. Write while enjoying part of the routine

We have said before that reading is essential to become a writer. Is it necessary to read daily? We cannot say that we must read every day, just as we must write every day. However, a writer can say that reading as much as possible is good for his writing. But there is no saying that you have to read it every day. But it would be good if there was a mandatory space for the enjoyment of daily life. That means listening to good music, watching good movies or TV series, and making time for other artistic pleasures. It will help you to make up your mind to write.

03. Don't copy, think creatively

This is a mistake that some people make knowingly or unknowingly when they start writing. That is copying. Remember, being inspired by another design and blatantly copying are two different things. Then getting inspiration and inspiration from another work does not mean that the story of that work is changed here and there, nor is it that the parts of it are changed and written. If you think more creatively, you will be able to make a more special design. A writer needs to take a break to think creatively. It can be done while in the shower or while travelling on the bus.

04. Prepare and write the story first

Now, when you say you are a writer, you can be someone who writes anything. Whether you are writing a short story, a novel, or an article, it is not so wise to sit down to write and write with the idea in your head. One of the reasons for that is that we tend to forget the ideas we have in our heads. The other thing is that even the desire to write can decrease. Therefore, the best thing is to make a template of what you are going to write before writing. It can be written in a notebook. Or you can make such a mind map in that app. After that, there is nothing to be afraid of being forgotten again.

05. Learn the language and write

We cannot write anything without language. Then, it is not enough to start with ideas to write; we also need to master the language. Here we are not saying that to become a writer, you need to be a super expert in the spelling and grammar of the language you are writing. However, it is difficult to do this work without having authentic knowledge of the language and without a rich vocabulary. Then you have to read and write to learn the language. Then a rich vocabulary, which means that if you want to learn words, you need to read more and write to use the words you read and learn. In the meantime, it is okay to use such resources on the Internet to learn that language.

06. Publish what is written

Some write for their fun. But whether you write for your pleasure or not, if you have some motivation and interest to continue writing, it is worth reading what you write. A good way to do that is to publish what you have written.

We will talk about that at the end. It doesn't matter if someone can read the written things and post an opinion constructively before publishing it. If you want, it doesn't matter if you put it on Facebook or a blog. But if you add what you write to such social media, you should not get stuck on the comments that fall there. It doesn't make any sense.

07. Connect, find resources, and keep writing

If we want to continue doing something we love, it needs to be sustainable. For this sustainability to happen, we need to create, maintain, and resource relationships within the field. This also applies to aspiring writers. But this does not mean trying to connect with famous writers on social media before writing something properly. First of all, something needs to be created to show oneself. That means we have to write something that will be published. Being published can be anything like the publication of a book or the publication of an article in a newspaper. Now that you have created something to show, you need to create your portfolio. At the same time, it is okay to start marketing yourself a little on social media. Also, it is good to join the dialogues, talks, and workshops related to literature and writing. It is very good to be involved like that, especially in workshops where you have to learn things properly.

08. Write without fear of writer's block

Most of the time, those who are just starting to write can easily get writer’s block or feel like they can’t write. It’s something that comes to veteran writers, too. So the first thing is that if you are new to the art of writing, you are either afraid of writer’s block, or you lose interest and stop writing. Sitting down to write for the first day we talked about is something you should do even if you get writer’s block. Then, one thing that can be done is to write something that comes to mind. That means free writing. Apart from that, we have already mentioned the things that can be done without fear of writer’s block.

If you wish, feel free to share your thoughts with me. I deeply appreciate and carefully consider all your comments with love and respect.
