The Cruel Genie: My Second Wish

This short series is about my fictional encounter with an insensitive genie. The stories are mixed with factual events. You may read my first wish here:
Dazed, my nerves still wracked from the terrifying encounter that my first wish instigated, I watched as the callous genie hovered over me.
“What if I don’t make a second wish?” I scowled at him.
He laughed. “Then your soul is mine.”
Something about the way he said that was convincing.
Ok, think! What should I wish for? For every wish I thought of, I imagined at least three ways he could twist it.
“Well?” he demanded impatiently.
I took a deep breath. “I wish to be a man.”
I stood in a dimly lit, disorganized bedroom. The room was vaguely familiar, and a pungent smell saturated the air. I could hear a child's cry in the distance.
