Writers I Admire Who Have Helped Shape my Craft
Their success motivates me
Today’s prompt is: Who are the writers you admire and why do they inspire you?
Every writer on this list has made an impression on me and my writing. Some of them I just know by their work, a couple of them I’ve actually communicated with online. There are things about all of them that I admire even if it’s just their prolific writing habits or because they just seem to be good people with goals and aspirations like me.
Stephen King
This may sound strange but Stephen was one of the first writers to introduce me to fear. I can’t tell you how addicted I was to those huge books that sometimes kept me up at night. Not only because of the subject matter but the way he drew me in and wouldn’t let go. Kinda sounds like torture right? It was, but I loved every minute of it.
I wanted to become that type of writer that took you on a journey and made you see, feel and hear everything his characters experienced.
Now that I’m old and scary, I don’t read his books anymore besides On Writing, his nonfiction book about becoming a writer.
