It’s important to accept that we age and the role aging has in bringing wisdom, healing, and gratitude.
There are many reasons aging is a difficult topic for queer people, which is why we need to share our experiences.
While the passing of time can be our greatest healer, I have found watching others live authentically and confidently to be just as healing.
Our perspective is important. Now that I have reached my thirties, I can confidently say that they are better than my twenties. There are several reasons for this. Let’s get to the good part then!
1. More authentic at thirty-two than twenty-two
Ten years ago this August, I married one of my best friends, but it was based on a lie. As an “ex-gay”, I was indoctrinated and convinced that my sexuality could change if I prayed, fasted, or worshipped enough.
I have come to accept myself as the mixed bag of identities and experiences that I am. Although my preferences and desires have changed throughout my life, I have always been gay/queer and I always will be.
