Grace
Grace jolted upright as she was returned to the present by Matt’s hand on her thigh. She looked over to see worry, compassion, and some other indescribable emotion staring back at her through the darkness.
“Grace, are you ok?” Matt asked in a gentle voice, almost as gentle as his hand as he kneaded her thigh.
Grace was incapable of speech, so she nodded her head yes. She placed her hand over his and stroked it to reassure him without words. If she tried to speak, her voice would betray her distress. The hurt…the anger…her murderous intent. She needed a plan, but she also wanted more information. The divorce would be ugly and expensive. She needed all her ducks in a row because Matt would fight dirty. She needed actual evidence of his affair before he realized what she was up to.
With her gaze locked on his, she did her best to keep the vitriol she felt to herself.
