What to Do When You Don’t Know Where To Start
The triage method that changed my life
The Busy Cycle
It seems that with every year that passes, I find myself more and more in the trenches with being “busy”. This year has been the busiest of my life, and yet I have nothing discernible to show for it. What’s more, the big-ticket items that have been on my list since last year, are still there — looming at me.
This endless cycle of moving my To Dos from one list to another but never actually getting to them often makes me feel like a failure. Especially since these are the things that might genuinely change my life.
Things like scaling my business, building out a series of workshops, defining, and sticking to, a healthy eating plan. These are all things that take time and effort, and I know, cognitively, that the sooner I get to them, the better I will feel.
The problem is that we humans are not cognitive beings. We like to apply reason and logic, but we’re all ultimately driven by emotion. This means that we can try to rationalise but unless we connect emotionally, we’re destined to stay in the same place we always have.
