Love At First Listen — Part Two A vibrant, neon-style illustration featuring a young woman with closed eyes and a blissful smile, wearing large headphones. She rests her hand against her face, immersed in the music. Glowing musical notes float around her, and a radiant heart pulses in the background, symbolizing the deep emotional connection to sound. Some songs take time to grow on you. Others grab you instantly, like an old friend walking through the door. That’s what this is about.

A play on Neil Diamond’sSong Sung Blue”, this is “Song Sung New”; a tribute to those tracks that struck a chord from the very first listen.

And speaking of instant hits, Kerry Purvis has delivered another smashing story challenge. Her original prompt is linked at the bottom.

I enjoyed her challenge so much this is my second response. My first story (also linked at the bottom) focused on genre mashups. This time, I’m simply picking songs that stand on their own, whether they are cover versions or originals.

Each song description will form a Drabble, a challenge in brevity for a writer who believes every word is essential until it’s obvious some editing is needed.
