Extremist Nonsense

Ongoing idiocy on the part of extremist, integrity-free Republican Party officials (and their media lackeys/co-conspirators) in promotion of their authoritarian ambitions does not thrive in a vacuum. They are ably abetted and encouraged by a fanatical right-wing faction of voters hell-bent on making their case that America was founded as a Christian nation duty-bound to worship a curiously imperfect deity — with or without facts on their side. Mostly the latter.

It’s bad enough that we can’t seem to resolve our political differences with any semblance of mutual respect for the common good. The forcible injection of far-right religious beliefs into the mix does not help. At all. Much of what passes for rationales regarding their fears about religious persecution and the denial of their version of liberty are indeed . (A trend with no end in sight; certainly no happy ones.)

Facts might also prompt loyalists to ponder the intentions and objectives of their designated “leaders.” It wouldn’t take much for them to realize the ambitions of their chosen ones don’t leave much — any — room for meeting those same constituents’ needs. Authoritarianism is funny that way.

Challenging the mandates coughed up by God’s team of spin doctors is definitely not on the list of permitted behaviors by those…
