Pay Attention
You speak to me day and night
Yet I choose to look away
My heart constrains to the thoughts in my head — will it ever stop?
I choose rebellion over your precepts and find myself in the pits of rage
Save me, shine your light upon me
Like the radiance of the sun on a warm summer day
Pay attention, my dearest daughter, are the words that come as a gentle whisper
But how can I drown out the noise of the world?
Only with you, is it possible…
And so with that, I will pay attention
